About Us

Why Mongkut AI was founded

Mongkut AI was established in Bangkok with a straightforward purpose: to offer online instruction in artificial intelligence that prioritises understanding over speed. The school takes its name from a tradition of scholarly rigor — a nod to the conviction that learning, done well, requires time and care.

The founders observed that much of the online AI education available to learners in Thailand and across the region was oriented toward rapid completion. Courses were designed to produce credentials quickly rather than to build the kind of grounded knowledge that allows a learner to work with difficult material independently. Mongkut AI was built as a deliberate alternative to that model.

The school opened its online programmes with three courses: a foundational statistics course aimed at learners whose AI study had revealed gaps in their mathematical background, a reinforcement learning programme for those ready to engage with one of the more technically demanding areas of the field, and a research methods programme for learners who want to develop the reading and critical-thinking skills that sustained work in AI requires.

All three are designed with the same set of priorities. The mathematical content is treated seriously. The applied work — primarily in Python — is integrated into the learning rather than treated as a separate strand. And the instruction is written and structured by people who have worked through the material themselves and have a considered view of what is worth knowing and what order things should be encountered in.

The school is headquartered in the Bang Rak district of Bangkok and can be reached by phone and email. Students study entirely online and may be based anywhere, though the school's cultural orientation is towards the Thai and broader Southeast Asian context, and the examples and references in the course materials reflect that.

Instructional Team

The people behind the courses

AT

Araya Thanakorn

Lead Instructor — Statistics & Foundations

Araya has a background in applied mathematics and has spent several years developing curriculum materials for quantitative courses at university level. She wrote and continues to maintain the Statistics for AI course.

PC

Panya Charoenwong

Lead Instructor — Reinforcement Learning

Panya works on reinforcement learning systems professionally and brings that practical orientation to the programme. He is attentive to the gap between how algorithms are described in the literature and how they behave in practice.

NL

Nattawut Lertpong

Lead Instructor — Research Methods

Nattawut has a research background and is interested in how learners develop the habits of mind that allow them to engage critically with a fast-moving technical literature. He designed and leads the Research Methods in AI programme.

Our Standards

How we approach instruction

Curriculum review

Each course is reviewed annually against developments in the field. Material that is no longer current or that has been superseded by better approaches is revised or replaced.

Student data privacy

Student records and correspondence are held with care. We do not share personal information with third parties other than where required for the operation of the school.

Considered feedback

Written feedback in our longer programmes is provided by the instructional team, not generated automatically. We expect responses to be substantive and returned within a reasonable time.

Clear course documentation

Each course comes with a detailed syllabus that describes the content, the expected time commitment, and the prerequisites. We want students to be able to make an informed decision before enrolling.

Secure online delivery

Course materials and student accounts are accessible through a secure platform. We keep software dependencies updated and access credentials are handled with appropriate care.

Honest claims

We are careful about what we claim our courses will do. We describe what is taught and how it is assessed. We avoid language that overstates likely outcomes or places unfair pressure on prospective students.

AI education built for working learners in Thailand and beyond

Mongkut AI operates from Bangkok and serves learners across Thailand and Southeast Asia who are looking to develop a working understanding of artificial intelligence methods. The school focuses on three areas: statistical foundations, reinforcement learning, and the reading and evaluation of research literature. These areas were chosen because they represent different stages of the learning journey that many AI practitioners describe: building a solid mathematical base, developing the ability to implement and reason about complex systems, and finally cultivating the capacity to engage independently with how the field is developing.

The school's instructors have backgrounds in mathematics, machine learning systems, and research methodology. They write their own course materials and are involved in the feedback process for student work. This is a deliberate choice: the quality of instruction depends on the person doing the instructing, and the school does not use automated or outsourced assessment for its written assignments.

All programmes are delivered online in English. The school's administrative office is in Bang Rak, Bangkok, and can be reached by telephone or email during office hours. Learners based in Thailand have the option to visit in person for an introductory conversation, though this is not required for enrolment.
